For the construction of a new interconnected coupler at the Schwandorf substation, several units were replaced and supplemented in the vicinity of the old 380 kV outdoor switchgear, requiring new individual foundations for lightning protection masts, overhead conductors and single-column disconnectors.

A permanent pile foundation was required due to the geological conditions. The micropiles installed are effective as a permanent foundation for the foundations.

A total of 156 micropiles with a total length of 1092 metres were used for the foundations.
