A dementia centre and Medical Valley Centre complete with a multi-storey underground car park was built on the Lagarde Campus at Berliner Ring 2 in Bamberg. Due to the geological conditions and layout of the site, a watertight, closed excavation pit shoring and deep foundations for the building were needed.

The shoring was planned and executed as a single back-anchored sealed sheet pile box with a shoring area of 4227m². The back anchoring of the sheet pile box was created with 2877 m of temporary strand anchors (180 pieces).
To ensure the buoyancy safety of the building, 641 permanent micropiles with a total length of 5545 metres were installed under the floor slab.

– Acceptance tests on 180 strand anchors in accordance with DIN 1537
– Prestressing of 180 4″ and 5″ strand anchors
– Pile testing in accordance with DIN 14199
